Almighty Dollar

There is one reason why I hate Valentine's Day. It's all about money.

Pounds
Euros
Dollars
Simoleons
You get the idea.

Why is it that we all fell the need to express the "love" towards those closest to us on the same day? If someone doesn't conform to this vicious, capitalist convention then they are branded "heartless" and as "bad partners" - especially men. However, isn't it more heartless that we are only forced into doing this because of some Hallmark Holiday, rather than random and unexpected expressions of love throughout the year?

And the factor of this dreary day that really gets my goat is that it proves to us all that romance is officially dead. If a 29p card from the local supermarket, some flowers from the filling station and a value-range box of chocolates is seen as a romantic gesture, well I'd rather be served poo on a stick this February 14th. How materialistic. And fattening. Think of the calories.

So here's to Saint Valentine. God of love. Founder of Clinton's Cards.

(And no, this is not because I'm sad and single. If I am presented choccies by a significant other of this "holy" day next year, I shall throw the box back in their face. Taking out the Strawberry Truffles first. I like them.)

Just Get Out My Face, Just Leave Me Alone...

Don't you just hate annoying people? Especially the ones who are actually your "friends"? Well I do.

The insensitive remarks
The never-ending anecdotes which you could REALLY do without
The personal questions
The constant need for advice (see a few confessions ago)
The ignorance (of so many issues/topics that I can't possibly begin to expand)
The lack of basic intelligence
The bad jokes
The list continues.

Lets call this person Whimpy (For those who know me, the clue is in the name ;) ). Whimpy really pisses me off. And it's with a swish wave of my coat that I say goodbye to Whimpy, and everybody else, as I jet off to New York for the next week.

Tatty-bye!

PS. Listen to the song - it's amazing!
