There is one reason why I hate Valentine's Day. It's all about money.
Pounds
Euros
Dollars
Simoleons
You get the idea.
Why is it that we all fell the need to express the "love" towards those closest to us on the same day? If someone doesn't conform to this vicious, capitalist convention then they are branded "heartless" and as "bad partners" - especially men. However, isn't it more heartless that we are only forced into doing this because of some Hallmark Holiday, rather than random and unexpected expressions of love throughout the year?
And the factor of this dreary day that really gets my goat is that it proves to us all that romance is officially dead. If a 29p card from the local supermarket, some flowers from the filling station and a value-range box of chocolates is seen as a romantic gesture, well I'd rather be served poo on a stick this February 14th. How materialistic. And fattening. Think of the calories.
So here's to Saint Valentine. God of love. Founder of Clinton's Cards.
(And no, this is not because I'm sad and single. If I am presented choccies by a significant other of this "holy" day next year, I shall throw the box back in their face. Taking out the Strawberry Truffles first. I like them.)

hmm i dont agree with this
i understand that it has become a very commersialised but i think that romance is only dead if you want it to be
things can be done on v.day which do no involve money, but very much so express love
and for that reason, i believe that your point can be seen as redundant and is an obvious opinion of someone who hasnt experienced love, at all
well written though (Y)
and how are you a martyr? you seem alive to me, and you dont seem to have a cause to further
some hyperbolic metaphor maybe?
anyway, your blog interests me...slightly
i agree with whoever said that aswell
love is everything
stop dissing v.day lol
and why is it always the singletons that moan about it?
hardly original.
bland.
same old whiney trash we all expect from you.
its pretty easy sitting on your fence and looking down on things like valentines day
sure its become commercialised, but who cares?
and do you actually think people are going to read this and think your right and start hating valentines day as much as you do?
if people want to celebrate love on valentines day the fuckin let them, who cares if they do it with chocolate and flowers?
And plus, christmas is way more commercialised, and i dont see you yapping about that, most probably because your actually involved in that.
and the only thing you'd be shoving in their face would be the empty box of chocolates once youve scarfed them down.
and dont you dare tell us to think of the calories
